Brakes should not feel spongy or slack when you press the pedal. You
can also check the brakes by moving forward slowly and operating the brake
pedal and the vehicle should not pull to one side.
Tell me how you would check your tyres to
make sure they have sufficient tread depth and that there general condition
is safe to use on the road.
You should check your tyres for cuts and bulges and obvious defects, also
make sure there is a minimum of 1.6mm of tread around the tyre. Remember
your spare tyre should also be legal.
Tell me where you would find the
recommended tyre pressures for this car and how you would check them.
Look in the
manufacturer's guidebook for the pressures and use a reliable pressure
gauge. Tyres should be checked when they are cold, do not forget to refit
the dust caps and always make sure your spare tyre is inflated to the
correct pressure.

apply gentle pressure to the steering wheel maintained while the engine is
started this should result in a slight but noticeable movement as the system
begins to operate.
